Dear friends!

We welcome participants, members of the jury, organisers and guests of the Fourth Jurgenson International Competition for Young Composers.

Peter Ivanovich Jurgenson founded the greatest musical publishing house in Russia, made an invaluable contribution into the business of promoting classical music, most notably Russian music. Up to the beginning of the twentieth century, his publishing house released the works of more than 500 composers, giving them the chance of broad recognition throughout the world. Amongst them were Tchaikovsky, Skriabin, Rakhmaninov, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, and many others.

The P.I.Jurgenson Competitions arose a great amount of interest from young composers—over a four hundred scores from 40 countries of the world have been sent to it, and the winners and the diplomants of the competition were made up of representatives of Azerbaijan, China, Great Britain, Greece, Japan, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Latvia, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Russia and the USA.

It is very important the works of the winners will be heard not only in the walls of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, but would be accessible to all users of the internet, and would be published in the internet musical series “Music of the Third Millennium”. In this way, we will also see the renaissance of the best tradition of the Jurgenson Music Publishing House.

From all our hearts, We wish the participants of the competition good luck and great artistic triumphs.
